WA EAST IN TROUBLE AS ONLY ONE MEDICAL DOCTOR IS WORKING FOR 90,000 COMMUNITIES

Wa East District in the Upper West Region are facing inadequate health facilities, which has left the district with only one medical doctor, as other health personnel’s posted there have abandoned the place.

 A district with over 90,000 population is served by roughly 10 health centers.



In an interview with District Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Kingsley Pascal, He expressed worry about the condition that there may be critical outcome if the situation continues.

‘’Due to the nature of the district, the topography and also network problems and that of the commensurate impoverished nature of the area, they find it hard to charm medical personnel’s. They do not also have teacher services so when personnel’s are posted there. They usually come to see the area but will not return again.

He continued that, they are lacking support. And also Stakeholders have not really organized what they are looking for.
