We Did Not Orchestrate Kuami Eugene’s ‘King Of Highlife’ Crowning – Charterhouse

Organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Charterhouse Production Ltd, has come out to defend that their office is not responsible for forcibly asking veteran musician, Amakye Dede to crown Kuami Eugene as ‘King of Highlife’ in Ghana during the 2019 VGMA’s.

On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Amakye Dede stated on Asaase Radio that he was forced by a certain party to install Lynx Entertainment signee, Kuami Eugene, as the reigning champion of Ghana’s highlife; “Though I did that, it was not my will to do so. They forced me to crown Kuami Eugene,” Amakye Dede said.

Clearing the air, Mr. Robert Klah, the head of public events and communication at Charterhouse has disclosed that despite the fact that “…there’s nothing wrong with crowning somebody”, Charterhouse is not responsible for the crowning act.

“We did not orchestrate any crowning session…So I am a bit lost when it comes to the assertion that event organisers are responsible… We work with a team… so, you give them opportunity, they create what they want to do”, he responded to Asaase Radio on Thursday morning, a day after Amakye Dede disclosed the cause of his act.

Meanwhile, the radio host said managers of Kuami Eugene have since, failed to respond to the radio station, to either refute or confirm what Amakye Dede said.
