The incident, according to an eyewitness, occurred a few minutes after midnight on Sunday, September 10, 2023, on the ACP Estate and Kwabenya stretch in Accra.
"Between the ACP Junction and the Kwabenya stretch, you know the road is usually clear at night, and so the cars are usually at top speed, even though there is police presence on the road. A short distance away from the KNUST Accra Campus Junction, coming out of the valley, I saw people gathered around a car. So, I decided to park and see what was happening. Upon checking, I realized a lady was coming out of a car. She had dreadlocked hair just like Wendy Shay
"So, I said, let me rush and see, and upon getting closer, I saw it was 's Wrangler would have toppled over," the eyewitness reported.
A video from the accident scene, shared by UTV, shows a mangled frontside of the Jeep Wrangler with the registration SHAY 21-19.
According to the eyewitness, efforts are being made to transport the Ruff Town Records signee to a nearby health facility for medical attention.
The accident occurred Saturday night on the stretch of road between ACP and Kwabenya in Accra, leaving the artiste shaken.
She sustained some injuries.
A video from the accident scene seen by Graphic Showbiz shows a severely damaged front side of the Jeep Wrangler vehicle with the registration number plate, SHAY 21-19.
According to eyewitnesses, Wendy Shay's Jeep Wrangler collided with a tipper truck loaded with sand.
The Deputy News Editor of UTV, Prince Obimpeh who was at the accident scene gave an account of the incident in a live interview on the United Showbiz programme on UTV on Saturday night.
He said: "You are aware that the stretch of road between the ACP Junction and Kwabenya is typically clear at night, thus despite the presence of police, cars are frequently traveling at top speed. Coming out of the valley, not far from the KNUST Accra Campus Junction, I noticed a group of people gathering around a car. I made the decision to park and observe what was going on. When I checked, I saw a woman getting out of a car. She resembled Wendy Shay and had dreadlocks… I got closer, I could see that it was Wendy Shay. Shay, the Wrangler she was driving had a unique registration. I quickly drew up to her and inquired as to what was going on. She said she was in an excruciating head pain after hitting her head on the dashboard and that she is unable to speak much.
